Shrine and Daily Activities

Today, Balaram Mandir stands as a silent witness to a number of important events in the history of the Ramakrishna Order and the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Movement. Besides regular observances of Tithi-Pujas of the Master, the Holy Mother, Swamiji and all the direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, Ratha Yatra and the Foundation Day of the Ramakrishna Mission (1st may) are celebrated here in befitting manner.

Thus, this centre of the Ramakrishna Math has been serving as a source of spiritual sustenance to the streams of devotees who have been coming here for solace and inspiration ever since the time of the Master.

The activities of this centre:

  1. Daily worship, Bhajans, fortnightly Ramanama Sankirtan and monthly Shyamnama Sankirtan.
  2. Celebration of birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, The Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the direct disciples of the Holy trio including Revered Balaram Basu, the Foundation Day of Ramakrishna Mission, the Ratha-Yatra, Durga Austomi, Sri Krishna Janmastomi and Guru Purnima.
  3. The room where Swami Adbhutanandaji (Latu) Maharaj spent 9 years and Swami Turiyanandaji Maharaj spent a few years is being maintained as a Meditation Room where any devotee can spend some time on meditation in a absorbed calm and peaceful environment.
  4. Book Showroom—well designed showroom is maintained for selling of Vedanta & Ramakrishna-Sarada-Vivekananda literature and puja articles.
  5. Sri Ramakrishna Divya Lila Pradarshani (museum) is being maintained by Balaram Mandir which remained almost unvisited by devotees due to pandemic.
